Email Engagement Score
An email engagement score is a single 0-100 number per prospect combining confidence-scored open count, click count, reply count, reply sentiment, and recency decay. It is the simplest single-metric summary of how warm a prospect is. Reps use the score for daily prioritisation; revenue ops uses it for cohort analysis.
Engagement scoring is the synthesis layer on top of every other tracking metric. The right score is interpretable, decays sensibly with time, and resists machine-generated noise.
A simple scoring formula
A defensible 0-100 score combines:
- 30 points: confidence-scored opens in the trailing 14 days, capped at 5 unique opens
- 25 points: clicks on tracked links in the trailing 14 days, weighted by link type
- 25 points: replies in the trailing 30 days, weighted by sentiment
- 20 points: recency multiplier, decaying linearly to zero at 60 days since last engagement
Anything above 70 is hot. 40-70 is warm. Below 40 is cold or stale.
What not to do
- Counting raw pixel loads. Confidence-scored opens only.
- Treating every link click as equal. Pricing and calendar clicks should weigh more than unsubscribe footer clicks.
- Ignoring recency. A score from an engagement spike 3 months ago is misleading today.
Frequently asked questions
Does Outsolvi compute this?+
Yes. The dashboard surfaces a per-prospect engagement score and the contributing components. The score updates every time a new engagement event fires.
How does this differ from hot-lead detection?+
Engagement score is interpretable per-prospect from email events alone. Hot-lead detection adds prospect attributes (title, account tier) and trajectory features that make it a richer but less directly readable ranking.
